Our History
The Legacy We Carry

Prompted by a community needs assessment in 2000, Susquehanna Health marshaled the resources to respond to the identified needs. Two hospital departments (medical and dental) that were part of Divine Providence Hospital, a Catholic hospital, came together to form the clinic. These departments then operated with a charity care policy, similar to the sliding fee scale, in use at the Center today.
After several years, the demand for services grew to the point where they could not offer services to new patients.
In 2006, the clinic was moved to a space more easily accessible to Lycoming County’s low-income population.
By 2009, Susquehanna Health and its community partners came to a shared understanding of the need for additional services giving impetus to the transition of the Center to an independent, non-profit entity meeting FQHC requirements.
